TV-Mood (edited Ver2)
contributed to: UnderWaterLove
Description
This ceiling-light could be used to improve a technology called *Ambilight* http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambilight

The whole living room would reflect the mood of the current scene on TV. This extended ambient lighting would make for a complete new experience, because it places the Viewer in the middle of the scene, not just in front of it.

The ceiling light could be connected to any device via WiFi/WLan or maybe even Bluetooth. To reflect the current mood on TV, an intelligent controller would be needed of course.

Generally speaking I think it would be best to provide this ceiling light with a standard port to PCs to make it fully customizable (and programmable) to anyone.

Interesting idea Tobias2... Don\'t you think that with that much light flickering around the room while watching TV would be superfluous? I can understand Panasonics idea of reduction of eye strain. Perhaps if you limited your feature to certain epic points in the program, such as when lightning strikes or a car drives past you etc... you could add a third dimension to the image in much the same way 7.1 surround adds to the sound. howman
exactly what I mean! Thanks for your reply :-) Just imagine watching a very scary movie and a lightning strike does not only appear on screen, but in your whole living-room! Reducing eye strain is not my intention though, I am just aiming at the action-thriller-movie :-) Of course one would not like flickering lights when watching a news-program. Some sort of intelligent controller should be able to distinguish between programs. Or at least there should be an off-switch. :-) tobias2
Be careful with what you do with lighting as you do not want to ever be able to create a light pattern that would cause an epileptic seizure. LED Head
I think seizures are caused by quickly flashing bright lights. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photosensitive_epilepsy howman
There was a Japanese cartoon a few years back that was causing seizures in people that normally did not get them. It was even parodied on \"The Simpsons\". I was thinking if the lights flashed because of lightning or something like that. As long as there was never a chance of a flashing pattern that can induce a seizure then it is a moot point. LED Head
