INTRO

Imagine if arranging light in the home was akin to flower arranging. Simply by dropping a flower into a vase a localised light source would be created. Such vases could be placed at key locations in a room with the light sources dropped into the appropriate vase as and when light is needed in that location. The concept of the ‘blumen’ is to provide a lamp system for such a scenario.

The blumen lamp is split into two components. The first is the lamp which is composed of the bulb and shade and a stem with contact areas at the top and bottom which correspond with contacts in the vase. The second element is the vase unit which connects to the power supply and is composed of an outer vase form and a powered base plate and plate round the rim. By dropping a stem into the vase so that its bottom part touches the vase base and the top is in contact with the rim a connection is made completing the circuit and causing the lamp to illuminate.
