HOT-COLD Pet Tracker
Description
HOT-COLD comprises a pair of devices (collar for pet, display for owner) to help keep track of your beloved pet when out of sight wandering the neighbourhood (or large house :).

The collar replaces traditional pet collars and features LED illumination. It wirelessly communicates with the display device kept within the owner\'s reach. If the pet is close to the owner\'s display device, the collar illuminates blue (a cold glow) to indicate its proximity. If the pet wanders off further, the collar illunmination switches to purple/red (a hot glow) to indicate it is a considerable distance from its owner. The illumination
on the collar is to increase the visibility of the pet to avoid being run over by traffic.

The owner\'s display device illuminates accordingly, using a series of concentric ring LED arrays. If the centre array (cold blue glow) illuminates, the owner is reassured that their pet is close by. Illumination of the outer rings (hot purple/red glow) tells the owner that their pet has wandered off and they may want to call him back home. The device gives off a pleasant glow and keeps the owner content about the whereabouts of their pet.

Cool :) mrv
Very nice - I bet lots of pet lovers would like to have one. I would only expect the colour the other way around - warm when its close by and cold when its far away. diplomod
very cool idea! EID
I like the play on the children\'s game. I also think that it would be good with outdoor cats as it makes them more visible in the dark. Perhaps with a bit of tweaking you can make one for children. howman
Blue calm, Red danger. Interesting way of communication by color.Congratulation HelferDesign
I really like it! Being an outdoor cat owner, I\'d love to put one one him. I would only be concerned about the light being to disturbing for them. Another thing I\'d add to it would be a GPS; they don\'t really come back when you call them! KFriderici
Interesting idea, give the visual unidirectionally transmitter to any pet, should be bidirectional in event when you have time for training your pet to respond at any blink intensity of the light for comming back. One older madam who I know should be happy from this gadget (she has around 15 cats and always worries when are out). durica
There are already companies selling pet trackers that are GPS based. They can pinpoint a dog or cat to about 3 meters. ON THE GROUND! I could see someone walking around trying to figure out where their cat is...and poor old kitty is 30 feet up in a tree. This could be converted into a kids toy and make a high tech game of hide and seek... LED Head
what if this was able to tell us how the pet felt? Remember pets can\'t talk, so the lights would show how they feel Classic
