hello davispang. really nice idea. would also be nice on a garden party at night. also nice to itentify your longdrink after dancing.
burk
I like the idea of being able to light up vases as you have shown.
LED Head
These would also be good as a child\'s night light of sorts... how are they powered? I think you could cut them into any shape you wanted. It would be really cool if you sold them as a sheet that could be shaped by the user once they got home. Or if they wer flexible enough to fold into origami.
howman
does it interact w/ the temp of the object resting on it. Like turn blue with something cold, or red with something hot, maybe a bright yellow or orange for something breakable to show caution. I think that would be nice.
Classic
Well, it\'s really good of course. But I also think you can get this already.

Dear howman, i didn\'t thought about people can cut their own shape before. But when i think again, i think people may make a mistake of cutting them, and on a marketing side thinking, i want the product to standardize the shape, look, color...etc Just to reinforce the brand image inside the market. To choose circle shape is because after research this is a shape more user friendly and mentally human being accept the most. Thank you for your suggestion - i like the bit to make it flexible enough into origami. Thanks.

Hi Classic, i think the idea is to have something simple, less production cost, and lower market price so that everyone can get one, or all colors. I think your idea is great, just that to add a temperature sensor will increase the cost, weight, errors...etc. But thank you though.

I think the ones out there are kind of thick (much thicker than a standard bar coaster for example). To keep it think, you might want to consider using OLED\'s. Might want to consider using OLED technology for this. Interesting article in the June 2009 LED Magazine. Th e unique features of OLED lighting are inspiring the imagination of designers, who are exploring various OLED lighting applications: windows, curtains, automotive light, decorative lighting, and wallpaper
LED Head
That was a very interesting article. I re-read it like 11 times. @davispang - I think you are limiting yourself by not allowing the user to create their own shapes. Granted there are many people who may like it in it\'s simple round form, but there is a much larger audience which would want other shapes. I really think that if you can leave something up to the imagination of the end user where by they truly are part of the design process and make the final decision on the way something looks, they will have been the designer and will be more attached to the object. With vested interest comes attachment.
howman
Hi howman, I think that can put into my improvement plan if i get through the first stage.
Thanks for your input.

I think Osram already markets these type of products. You can check their online shopping site to purchase them.
