Sorry, I was commenting on the fact that LED Head has reposted his comment on OLED\'s in 8 different ideas word for word... It is a bit of tongue in cheek humour between he and myself. I really like your idea and would love to see the material become available at reasonable prices so designers and artists could realize some fun usages for it. howman
Ok, now I got it.I saw that you both are very busy here. May be LED Head lost the survey;-).Thank you and LED Head for all the helpfull input you give! burk

Idea Details
LED+Fabric
Description
Comments
This is a keen idea. If i read you correctly, I could take a sheet of this light emitting fabric and knot it into a lamp, hang it as a chandelier, roll it as a flashlight or fashion it into a piece of clothing... Smashing concept. If you somehow integrated a form of sensor that allowed you to turn it on and off by touch, or squeeze and or change it\'s colour and intensity you would have hit the hammer with the nail head.

the lightweight interchangable light...great idea
Classic
hello howman, thank you for your comments. to keep the fabric flexible all electronic parts to control the colour and intensity should be placed in an external housing with the accu pack. and yes, to ad sensors for different functions in this device would be a nice idea. Thanks

It would be really bang up if you could just clip a power cord to this fabric at any point on the surface or on an edge.

This has possibilities! As clever as it seems, it is mainly a \"mood\" concept. I would appreciate knowing from the designer the various use application he forsees.
almontriv
amazing concept. this can revolutionize the fashion industry someday!
sheepy
hello almontriv. of course, first of all it is an ambient light which can be formed by the user in a shape he wants. it can be used as a ceiling-, table- or floorlamp. you can use it also outdoor in the garden or at a night-piknick. existing in various sizes from small to big it will raise the possibilities. also curtains are thinkable or 3d screens for light-installations on fairs, contract spaces or art.
burk
hello sheepy. thank you for the comment. that would be the next stepp to use the concept for clothing. for safety, for information, for fashion.

Might want to consider using OLED technology for this, just read an article in the June issue of LED magazine. Th e unique features of OLED lighting are
inspiring the imagination of designers, who
are exploring various OLED lighting applications:
windows, curtains, automotive light,
decorative lighting, and wallpaper.
LED Head
Thanks LED Head for the advice.

We have 8 ladies and gentlemen... 8... As mentioned elsewhere Philips has this material available for use in partnership with them. It would be interesting to apply some form of touch capability to it though as theirs is just a light emitting fabric. To be able to control the light and in this case show it in an interesting form is a great idea.
howman
Hello LED Head. I read the article about OLED. If I understand your advice you propose OLED because it is flexible. I want to use fabric because of all its touchs and patterns. The different ways its surface interacts with the light. Not only because of its flexibility. To use small OLED (if possible) instead of LED could be interessting. Thanks

There was a link on the other idea about the retractable awning, and I think that material is spot on for many applications. What I originally envisioned was you know how winter drapes have insulation sewn into the back of them? Maybe you could use OLED is that type of application, but the fabric in that other link looks like it is really flexible.
LED Head
Hello LEDHead. Because of you comment I got the idea to play with the two sides of the fabric. Using different arangements of LEDs or different kind of LEDs could be very interessting. Thanks for all.

Interesting concept. I am aware that there will be ongoing development and research on LED fabrics for clothing, etc.
cybortek
@cybortek. Thank you for your comment. Do you have any info about ongoing development or research about this?

To everybody: Have you seen the Swarovski fabric in Milan? Would be nice to see this in combination with this idea.
