Here is a thought, lightning bugs are sometimes really beneficial. Although they eat worms, they also eat slugs and other pests. However, they are a dead giveaway for frogs and other predators. In areas where it would be beneficial for them to breed and reduce pests, to help them, have small firefly decoys, so frogs and other predators go towards fake lights, leaving the firefly to mate (they light up to attract mates...I tried wearing led\'s to meet women but it didn\'t work...LOL). This way, it is 100% chemical free and we tip the advantage to the firefly. LED Head

Intresting idea Giorgio, you idea remind of a place in my home ocuntry, A river bank that full firefly when nite fall. This little bugs will stop or fly around the red woods forest along the river bank. red woods forest is best eco place for firefly to live on here. but thes years back, the amount of this lovely bugs reducing very obviously, so perhaps the suggestion of LED head might be one of the way that can work out to increas their population. We used to catch them in a jar and pretend we were miners or railway workers...granted we were only 6 yrs old at the time... if you made them small enough and rechargeable through some form of non plug in method, there might be a childs toy there. howman
