Welcome Nemo! diplomod
Isn\'it the philips ambilight concept? or maybe I\'m misunderstanding something... steste
Yes indeed - it\'s very similar to the Ambilight, but it has nothing to do with a TV! It is a Light frame for pictures and it is very effective. You might also use semi-transparent pictures to give a third dimension - normally not visible when the light is off - a new kind of expression and information given by the backlight. Nemo

LED picture light frame
Description
Use RGB LED light stripes at the back of a picture to build a light frame. Adjust the color depending from the picture itself, or from the general light color of the room.
You can easy build up a very decorative lighting element.

Does this make the picture better? user not found
Nice idea :) RadoslavTodorov
A little too close to Ambilight, but still has a potential since not everone could afford or may not need the tv. bahars
Maybe add a proximity sensor so it only lights up when someone is near, which would save energy versus having it lit up when nobody is looking at it. In art museums, it could help save money and reduce carbon footprints. LED Head
In an art gallery the light is suppose to enrich the viewing experience of the art... I am not sure that having the lights shine at the viewer is the best idea... Now, there is something to be said for creating a light source that will not damage the artifact but still allows for proper viewing. howman
Yes because some lights give off emissions that could be harmful in the long run to artwork. LED Head
I have seen products like these in stores already. Not that it\'s not a good thing, but maybe you can refine or make improvements to it. cybortek
