How are the winners determined?

A jury will determine the winners in both contest phases. The Jury will evaluate the creativity and quality of the ideas in respect to the contest topic and goals. The jury will consider criteria such as the creativity, originality or business fit of an idea but will also take into account objective matters such as feasibility.

The evaluations conducted by the community serve as filter mechanisms for jury members yet do not have a direct influence on the determination of the winning ideas.
Jury members will discuss the contributions from both phases in two separate meetings at the end of each phase. During the discussion, jury members will express their views about contestant contributions as well as the opinions submitted in the community discussion. At the close of the discussion, winners will be selected by a unanimous decision.
What is the activity counter and how is it determined?
The most active members will be awarded non-monetary prizes in phase 1 and 2. The activity counter will be used to determine the activity of each member. Each activity contributed to the platform is given a specific value which is then calculated in the activity counter. You can check your activity counter in "My Area".
The following table shows the specific value of the member contributions during the contest:

This contest is designed in order to create an innovative community which jointly develops new and consumer-oriented LED light solutions.

What is the contest about?

The contest is about the creation of new and innovative ideas and designs for LED light solutions with a "Wellness/Wellbeing" focus. The ideas may be described with simple application scenarios and extended by designs or technical solutions. It is irrelevant whether you have a great deal of experience in light design or not, as long as you have a creative imagination.

The light solutions:
  • shall give rise to emotions and moods like harmony, energy and wellbeing
  • must be easy to implement and easy to use (Plug'n Play approach)
  • customizable
  • should be affordable for everyone.
The goal of the contest is to involve interested users, developers, designers and engineers in the innovation process in an excitingly new manner.

See more information on the topic in Info & Inspiration.

Phases 1 + 2

The Competition will be conducted in two phases. In phase 1 of the competition, you can enter your ideas for LED Light Solutions. The ideas are evaluated and discussed by the community and the jury. After 7 weeks, the jury determines the winners of phase 1 and selects the most interesting ideas for the next phase. In phase 2, the selected ideas can be developed further by the community. In phase 2 you can refine the selected ideas by making contributions in accordance with the following categories:

  • design
  • application
  • technical solutions

After 3 weeks of refinement, phase 2 ends and the winners of this phase are announced about one week later.

Evaluation

You may evaluate the ideas in the competition and thereby support the jury and increase your activity counter!

Intuitive Evaluation

As a participant of the contest, you may state whether you like or dislike the idea of other contestants through an intuitive vote. You may indicate your valuation of an idea by assigning 1 to 5 points to the idea. The average rating is displayed within the idea pool.

Detailed Evaluation

You may also evaluate the ideas in detail by specified criteria. You may evaluate an idea only once but you may update your evaluation. The criteria for the detailed evaluation address your overall valuation of the idea, the benefit for the customer, the competitive situation for the idea and the market potential of solutions which are based on the idea.

Comparative Evaluation

You may further rank an idea in comparing it to other ideas.

Comments/Discussion

Beside the possibility of evaluating the ideas of others, you may also post comments on every idea or reply to the comments of others. Again, this increases your activity counter and supports the jury in finding the winners. To add comments, you may use the convenient commenting function at the bottom of each idea.

Messages

You may also leave public messages to other community members on their profiles by using the message-function on the member's profile. This also increases your activity counter.

Tag Cloud

To explore the ideas, you may use the tagcloud. The tagcloud is a visual depiction of keywords which lead you to a list of ideas that are associated with the keyword you have selected. The tagcloud features all the tags you and other contestants have attached to the ideas. The larger the tag, the more ideas are attached to it.

Terms and Conditions

To be eligible to take part in the contest, submit ideas and win one of the prizes. Remember you must become a registered user and agree with the terms and conditions of the contest.
