Jellyfish Pool LED Lamp
Submitted23.05.2009

Description
Picture you in a perfect summer night swimming between beautiful, harmless, glowing jellyfishes.
It is a peaceful, mysterious dreamlike experience that has the role to make you feel more relaxed and bring you close to the nature.
This lamp is trying to replicate the apparence of a jellyfish and is designed for use in outdoor pools. It is made from transparent silicone/rubber-like materials and is using photovoltaic cells to charge during the day. When the sun light level is down enough it begins to glow.
You can add weight to them if you wannt them to stay fully submerged.
From this moment on you will never use your pool subaquatic light system.

Enjoy ...:)

...and if you hate even a plastic jellyfish I can try to invent a new form of marine life ...:)

I like the way you deal with something floating in the water by using the form of a jellyfish. A friend has a floating light for his pool and it is really cool because it lights up the whole pool. It would be interesting if you created a built in ballast so you could float them at any level in the pool without needing weights. Perhaps something like a submarine where you fill an air space with water to submerge. Also it would be interesting if they changed colour based on motion that way if there is lots of splashing in the pool they would glow a different colour than if it was calm. Hey you could even use wave action to charge it. howman
Really cool - maybe there\'s people afraid of jellyfish but in fact they\'re the perfect role model due to their elegance - awesome idea. diplomod
Interactions between multiple Jellyfish in a pool could also add to the concept for a more dynamic and emotional evening swimming experience, nice idea. riddickuliss
I also think you could make them out of a soft silicone rubber as the hard plastic hurts when you swim up under it. howman
Maybe in a fishpond, it could float around and sample the PH and let you know when you have to attend to the water quality. LED Head
They could also be used to clean the water... howman
Very nice project. It would be nice if these things floating in the pool during a pool party. molotkoff
Congratulations on your idea being selected for phase 2. Hopefully we will see this in stores by next year so our ponds and pools can have some new lighting! LED Head
Congratulations! And goodluck in phase 2! molotkoff
congratulations. howman
there\'s so much beauty in simplicity :) good jobb! the only thing i\'d work on further is the presentation. This ideea deserves a better one :) gheob2002
Very Interesting - I think its a great approach from being inspired by nature & to make a cool functional product, which harnesses energy from the Sun which is utilized by night. Specifically in terms of function, the first thought which came to my mind was , \" to use this as a Buoy / beacon in shallow waters of the seas to warn boats, ships and /or people of the dangers\" athale
Sorry for this comment, but the original sea creatures known as Caravelas-are very dangerous-they cause severe skin burns when touched by accident-although beautiful. And since adults can recognize its danger ;the same is not true for children that can be confused with its image design/final design; growing up with it safety in their own swimming pools.
