Maybe we should implement some sort of Email-notification when your idea is commented... diplomod
btw: we will have some extended discussion functions in phase II since I think we really can use it! (25.000 words yet!!!!) diplomod

Quasi - You have hit on something that the industry is not doing yet and it is a great idea. Solar powered lights here in the USA just turn on at \"dark\" and off at \"light\". If the industry would already use the power of the photocell and detect light levels and adjust the output power accordingly, they could use smaller batteries and still get great light output. I like tying the weather to the lighting, I could just look outside in the morning and not have to step outside or turn on the TV or internet to see what the weather is.

i like this, forget the weather channel, I have my street lights!

If you add some sort of barometer, your light could even tell how the weather is going to be tomorrow. I also think that it would be so much more intuitive than usual barometers. Should be easy to define self explanatory colour themes which represent weather types - I suggest yellow for sunny ;)

@LED Head, Classic, diplomod and howman - let\'s think about the amount of light going into the sky every night... couldn\'t the problem of telling the weather be solved in another way that didn\'t use light? I\'m not saying I don\'t like the concept, but as a primary function, telling the weather, it is just gussying it up with lights for the sake of lights.
howman
this light is less for telling the weather and more about representing the conditions through light. You observe the weather conditions and have your own feelings about it, this light adds another dynamic by emenating own sentiment about the weather for you to add to your observation.

Well yes and no. I am no barometer, but as I get older, just like my granny, I can tell you when a bad storm is coming, but not necessarily a storm that is just blowing through. Then again, I guess I could just always have a storm radio that only alerts when things are going to happen.
