Hi,yes Alan is correct,just a rendering drawing to show that t process to final design.It has two layers in one ball. The outer thick cristal clear layer is spread all over previous mirror ball-its is a sandwich material ball; where- like glass;acrylics coating diffusor- is outside metal mirror finish ball.Further just plug in Led compounds in its circle shape holes. I like very much your idea of having two remote comunicating balls with a kind of high-tech component inside. One ball keeps distance-consumer control- of each other I think robots have this kind of anti-collision objects keep some distance device. It is a very high tech approach to design as the previous concept. but to understand it better;maybe you can look at how an common cd has its mirror film/record area/layer inside a more thick acrylics case protect,seeing at a lateral side of it as point of view.It is more a closer approach to what the mirror ball will look,a mirror ball envelopted with acrylics for lighting dispersion in cristal clear finish outer layer.
