nice idea. well thought out. I am working on something like this for my house right now, although I am not going to use sound or motion but RFID tags to turn lights on and off depending on the room I am in... I may have to rethink some of my designs. :) thanks.

If you have RFID tags you will need a reader in each room, which i assume is much more expensive than a motion detector. you may want to go with a occupancy sensor switch, which are very common. they use a combination of ultrasound and infrared to turn the lights on with any motion. the advantage of RFID of course is that each user can be identified and have a custom scheme for them. what happens when 2 users are in one room, i don\'t know.
