MOOD_Magnet
Description
Mood Magnet is a customisable display-enhanced fridge magnet that serves the dual purposes of a social emotion communicator and dynamic mood light.

Mood Magnet provides a fun and illuminative way to communicate your current feelings and emotions to fellow family members, house mates, work colleagues or any other people you share a domestic or work place with. Operation is straightforward. The single button is used to toggle through six custom settings.

1> Happy
2> In Love
3> Cheeky
4> Sad
5> Surprised
6> [30sec, 2min, always, off]

For settings 1-5, Mood Magnet displays different animated illuminations based on emoticon faces. The faces switch between mild and exaggerated expressions of the selected emotion and, at random intervals, rotate 360. The switching and rotating movements of the animation creates a dynamic mood light, which is further enhanced by the use of colours indexed to the different emotions. Mood Magnet also features side illumination to intensify the conveyed mood. The overall illumination is such that it can be seen clearly in daylight, but the effects are of course most dramatic in low lighting conditions.

Setting 6 defines the duration of the illumination. Mood Magnet has a motion sensor mounted on its front face. When a person comes into proximity of the product, their motion triggers Mood Magnet to illuminate, and thus they are confronted with the previously set emotion, causing them to ask ‘who feels like this today?’ and ‘why?’. For settings of ’30sec’ and ‘2min’, Mood Magnet will switch off its illumination at the end of those time periods. For the ‘always’ setting, Mood Magnet continually illuminates (bypassing the motion sensor). The ‘off’ setting shuts down the operation of Mood Magnet, preserving power.

Technical Information
Illumination: 10 x 10 matrix of miniature 4mm RGB LEDs
Power: 2 x AAA (rechargeable recommended)
Fixing: 4 x miniature disc magnets
Casing: injection moulded translucent polycarbonate with screen-printed grid/graphics

Cute idea. like a digital note pad for the fridge. And to think we just use digital photos to show what\'s in the fridge so we don\'t have to open the door. howman

Good Idea. A picture is worth a thousand words. HelferDesign
I really like the playfulness of this idea. It provokes people to talk about their issues. Classic
Very simple but a cute idea. It is not just a tool for communication but also serves as a lighting (for moods). mrv

Not only for the fridge, I can use it in the back window of the car, add a remote controler to change the mood, so other cars know your mood.... check the link: http://www.drivemocion.com/ ;) becava
@becava - oh dear! mine seems to be more innocent :o) bahars
@becava - plus they might be quite destructive in traffic! bahars
At least one of the ones shown on the drivemocicon website could get you shot over here in the USA. I am also pretty sure you could get ticketed. Better stick to having it on the fridge. LED Head
